Are you getting ready to move to a new home? If so, you'll need to pack up all of your belongings to get them there. One thing that you may struggle to pack up is your clothing, which is why it helps to have some helpful tips for how to get them ready and move them out of your home.

Purge Old Clothes

The first thing that you should do is purge things that you do not wear anymore. You likely have a lot of clothing that doesn't fit well or is completely out of style. Consider getting rid of those things to make the move much easier. You can donate these clothes if they are in good shape or throw them away if they have rips and stains that would make others not want to wear them.

Sort Seasonal Clothes

Chances are that you have a lot of clothes for different seasons and that you are not using them all at this very moment. It is a good idea to pack up those out of season clothes because you don't have to unpack them right away. If you know you won't need winter clothes for a while, fold them up and put them in a box so they can go immediately into storage.

Use The Right Storage Method

You may be wondering how you are going to easily transport your clothing from one home to another, especially if everything is on hangers. The easiest way to do it is to buy a wardrobe box, which is a very tall box that has a metal rod to hang all of your clothing on. They'll remain upright and won't get wrinkled during the move.

Don't want to spend money on one-time use boxes? You can also buy small wardrobe bags that serve a similar purpose. You can keep everything on hangers and protect the clothing from getting dirty during the move. If you are on a tight budget you can accomplish the same thing by using large trash bags. Make a hole in the bottom of the bag for the hangers to fit through, and slide it right over a big group of clothes to protect them during the move.

Hire Movers

Packing up your belongings is only half the battle. Don't break your back doing manual labor when you can hire a moving company to do all the heavy lifting for you. You'll have the energy at the end of your moving day to unpack rather than just wanting to sleep.
